The 2016/2017 edition of Anuário do Ceará brought a major novelty: the publication of its data also on a digital platform using the big data function, available from the portal since July 18, 2016, the launch date of yet another edition of the state's oldest publication. This new publication and analysis platform offered its users the ability to explore and visualize the Anuário's data in an interactive and customized way for each specific interest.
The Anuário do Ceará's big data function implements dozens of interactive dashboards that allow users to explore data related to public administration, economy, cities, and infrastructure. The analysis of this information, within the universally known concept of data discovery, brings as its main benefit the obtaining of insights and a unique understanding of Ceará's recent history revealed through public and consistent data. In this sense, the Anuário reinforces its importance as a source of knowledge for researchers, social scientists, economists, and for society in general.
The interactive dashboards of Anuário do Ceará were implemented by Conjecto, a Ceará-based company that, this year, partnered with Fundação Demócrito Rocha to offer Anuário readers this new way of visualizing and analyzing data. The construction of this portal also involved the implementation of sophisticated data preparation functions, known as data blending, essential for the rapid and consistent integration of data from various sources.
