Ceará Yearbook 2019-2020 arrives on the market this Monday

Ceará Yearbook 2019-2020 arrives on the market this Monday

Conjecto participates in the production and publication of the digital version of the Ceará Yearbook 2019/2020. Check out the article published by Jornal O Povo.

Among the new features of this year's publication is a special chapter dedicated to the Araripe Geopark, a territorial map of indigenous and quilombola communities in the State, and information on impact businesses and the second edition of the Comparative Municipal Management Index (ICGM).

The Ceará Yearbook, the oldest publication in circulation in Ceará, launches its newest version today. The 2019-2020 edition is being released today at a ceremony for guests, at 7:30 PM, at Lulla's Plazzá. In addition to a complete X-ray of the State in both print and digital versions, this year, the Yearbook features a special chapter on the cultural and historical richness of the Araripe Geopark, in Cariri.

Other novelties in this edition include a territorial mapping of indigenous and quilombola communities in the State and information on how impact businesses are gaining ground in Brazil. Across 640 pages, distributed over 11 chapters, one can find an updated compilation of economic, political, social, geographical, and cultural data, presented through texts, maps, tables, photos, and illustrations.

There is also the traditional ranking of the most influential members of the Ceará Legislative Assembly, the Fortaleza City Council, and the Ceará delegation in Brasília. And, for the second consecutive year, the results of the Comparative Municipal Management Index (ICGM) – Ceará Yearbook-Ipece, developed by the Institute of Research and Economic Strategy of Ceará (Ipece), based on technical criteria to measure the management of the 184 municipalities of Ceará.

“The hyper-supply of information, through the most diverse means, values references. Fortunately, a more complex society also becomes more demanding. The volume of data ceases to be the sole parameter, and values such as credibility and good navigation gain relevance,” states the project’s general editor, Jocélio Leal.

He emphasizes that the basic criterion in every editorial decision is the reader's interest. “In the Yearbook, we strive for excellence in research and design, in both the print and digital versions. In the 'Municipal Guide' chapter, for example, each of the 184 municipalities of the State is detailed in fact sheets whose primary sources are public and private institutions of recognized reliability, such as IBGE, Ipece, the Court of Justice, and regulatory agencies, for instance.”

Throughout its 150 years of tradition, the constant pursuit of innovation is a characteristic that marks the Ceará Yearbook, affirms the publication's executive editor, Joelma Leal.

“The Yearbook is a new product with each edition. Only immutable data between one edition and the next is retained. The oldest publication in Ceará has been cataloging and recording changes in our State for about a century and a half, becoming a fundamental reference and presence in archives of libraries, schools, entities of all kinds, and companies.”

Today, in addition to the print version, the material can be consulted on a special channel (www.anuariodoceara.com.br) that brings, besides the content of the edition, extras and data updates. With user-friendly and intuitive handling, it is also possible to search for information about Ceará in a big data format. There are, on average, more than 90 possible combinations.

In practice, the system allows, for example, to search for information from the current Yearbook edition, previous ones, and other databases, explains Renilton Oliveira, executive director of Conjecto, the company that developed the big data. And some data sources that have more frequent updates also receive upgrades on the portal. “The idea is to bring to the user community a new, more interactive, dynamic way of extracting information, answering questions related to Ceará.”

The Ceará Yearbook is a realization of the Demócrito Rocha Foundation and promoted by O POVO. The work can also be found on the website www.anuariodoceara.com.br and in O POVO TV programs.

Who makes the Yearbook

The publication has journalist Jocélio Leal as general editor and Joelma Leal as executive editor. Reporters Alex Ferreira, Camila Gadelha, Cristina Brito, and Felipe Mendes investigated the content that readers will find in the Ceará Yearbook 2019-2020. The revision and fact-checking are by journalist Soriel Leiros. The special chapter on the Araripe Geopark is signed by journalist Nut Pereira.

Professionals Rafael Cavalcante, Lorrine Sampaio, Cristiane Frota, Welton Travassos, and Robson Pires complete the team responsible for the Yearbook's art.

The Tones of Pedra Cariri

The graphic design of the 2019-2020 edition is inspired by the cultural and historical richness of the Araripe Geopark. On the cover, a representation of a dragonfly fossil, carved in Pedra Cariri, a mineral resource prominent in the region. The work is signed by the design editor of the Demócrito Rocha Foundation (FDR), Amaurício Cortez, with illustrations by Karlson Gracie. The base photograph for the cover is by journalist Demitri Túlio.
